Service

“I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.”

Rabindranath Tagore

In this troubled world how can we use our gifts and talents to be of service to humanity?

From 2018 to 2020, before I contracted COVID-19, and again after my recovery from 2020 to present, I used my sewing talents to make over 1,000 "Care Bags" for un-housed friends and women in DV shelters here in Albuquerque, NM. The bags contain toiletries and hygiene products, some of which I paid for out of pocket and some of which were donated by businesses and members of various faith communities. I also sewed over 200 hats and scarves for un-housed friends who had to sleep on the Albuquerque streets on cold winter nights. After my recovery, I sewed about 150 masks for the un-housed, for friends and family members, and young friends who joined Black Lives Matter Protests. I encourage all my viewers to do their part to help others. Service is healing and also brings joy to yourself and others. Service to humanity is perhaps one of the best ways we can effect positive change in this world.
