What do you think of when you hear the words “Healing Arts?” Most of us will think of yoga, tai chi, meditation, qigong, exercise, and all of these are great answers. As for me, when I hear “Healing Arts,” the first thing I think of are culinary arts, like cooking, baking, fermenting and more, and the second thing I think of is agricultural arts like gardening, farming, permaculture, and landscape design.

Hippocrates said, “Let food be thy medicine,” but indigenous people have said this for far longer. I believe that no matter how much you practice yoga, tai chi, or exercise, regular intake of processed, chemicalized, junk foods, fast foods, and genetically modified foods will eventually ruin your health. True healing only comes when we eat natural, whole, living, and mostly plant based organic foods. And healing is so much greater when we grow our own.

I have been gardening all my life and cooking is my passion. Here are some images of my agricultural and culinary arts. But my vision is to ultimately build a homestead farm on ancestral land that I reclaimed a few decades ago. That vision is steadily becoming a reality.
